Zookeeper Fatally Bitten by Lion During Feeding: A male zookeeper at the Tohoku Safari Park in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, was reportedly bitten by a lion during a feeding session on Thursday (September 28th), causing bleeding in the neck. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Following the incident, the park announced a temporary closure.
According to Fukushima Central Television, the Tohoku Safari Park houses several lions. On Thursday afternoon, park staff discovered the lion keeper responsible for their care bleeding from the neck and collapsed inside the lion enclosure. They immediately alerted the fire department.
The park management posted on their official website that they would temporarily close the park due to the incident and promised to provide further details.
The Tohoku Safari Park confirmed that the deceased individual was a 54-year-old lion keeper. Based on footage captured by park cameras, it appears that the keeper was bitten on the neck while feeding the lions.
Preliminary investigations by the police also suggest that the keeper was killed by the lion’s bite.
