Tom Cruise Reportedly Has His Sights Set: Despite unsuccessful attempts with Shakira and recent co-stars denying any romance, Tom Cruise is allegedly still seeking love. Though he’s supposedly struck out finding a new flame, he seems to have his sights set on reconnecting with a former, now single love interest: Sofia Vergara.
For the uninitiated, the Mission Impossible star briefly dated Vergara back in 2005. Now that Vergara is divorcing Joe Manganiello, sources say Cruise views her as “the one that got away.” Insiders claim, “It’s always eaten away at Tom that he dumped Sofia and chose Katie [Holmes].”

While the pair shared a “brief dalliance” rather than a “full-fledged romance,” sources suggest things could get more serious if Cruise gets his way. They recall Cruise and Vergara “had a special time together partying in the Hollywood Hills and having a blast.” Back then, Vergara reportedly “wasn’t really giving out the signals…that she wanted anything long-term, so it petered out amicably and they remained friends.”
In 2005, Will Smith introduced Vergara to Cruise at a pre-Oscars event. Soon after, Cruise called Vergara to invite her to an upcoming party, dazzling her with his charm.
While we know they dated in 2005, the reason for their split is unclear. Some claim Cruise ended it to marry Katie Holmes, while others say Vergara broke up with him over Scientology conversion attempts.
Despite their fleeting romance, Vergara seems focused on her pending divorce before anything else. But after that? Only time will tell.
