The toilet explosion: A Dunkin’ Donuts customer is suing the fast-food restaurant after an exploding toilet at a Florida store left him covered in feces.
Paul Kerouac said he was “covered in waste material, including human feces and urine,” according to the complaint filed Wednesday.
The complaint states: “Following the toilet explosion, the plaintiff came out of the men’s room and asked the employees and managers of the [defendant] company for help in cleaning because after coming out of the men’s room, he was covered in human feces and urine.” ”
Kerouac also says that workers at the coffee shop said they were aware of “problems in the toilet.”
He is seeking $50,000 plus legal fees for the incident, which allegedly happened in January 2022.
Kerouac now “requires mental health care and counseling as a direct result of the trauma he experienced in the restroom of defendant’s building, and from ongoing trauma after the incident.”
He also says it caused “bodily injury and psychological harm” as well as “significant permanent emotional harm, mental anguish, loss of capacity to enjoy life, medical care and treatment costs.”
Dunkin’ Donuts has not yet responded to a request for comment.
