Gigi Hadid Arrested and Fined $1,000: Supermodel Gigi Hadid was recently arrested and fined $1,000 after customs agents discovered marijuana and related paraphernalia in her luggage upon arrival in the Cayman Islands.
Hadid flew via private jet to the tropical destination last week for a girls’ trip from the United States. When she landed at the Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10th, local authorities reported that Cayman Islands Customs & Border Control officers found cannabis and utensils used for consumption after scanning and searching her bags.

The quantities involved were relatively small and seemingly for personal use, according to local reports. Similar materials were also allegedly found in the luggage of Leah Nicole McCarthy, another member of Hadid’s travel group. Both women were arrested on suspicion of importing marijuana and related paraphernalia.
They were released on bail and appeared in a Summary Court on July 12th, where both plead guilty. Each was fined $1,000 with no conviction recorded. The Cayman Islands courts confirmed the arraignment took place in George Town but did not specify the exact charges.
A representative for Hadid stated that the marijuana was purchased legally in New York City with a medical license. The rep noted that cannabis has also been legal for medical use in the Cayman Islands since 2017, and that Hadid’s record remains clear.
Since the incident, Hadid and her friends have continued relaxing and traveling on their island vacation, sharing pictures and videos of their experiences. The supermodel appears to be moving on from the minor run-in with the law.
